An Interview of Miguel Membrado as CDIO in the education market
In this exclusive interview conducted by Julio Villalobos, VP Higher Ed at Salesforce, we delve into the critical role of digital transformation in shaping the future of higher education.
MAIN TOPICS OF THE INTERVIEW
This is an opportunity for Miguel to share the fruits of his experience in the field, having also been Director of Digital at Université Paris Dauphine PSL until 2021.
Starting from the premise that education disseminates intangible goods (knowledge), Miguel argues that to benefit from greater impact and reach even wider populations, the sector needs to draw inspiration from major digital players such as Microsoft, Google or Salesforce, by creating multi-channel, multi-service digital platforms.
This is also what will enable us to effectively address the lifelong learning market, by retaining learners throughout their future professional careers, and anticipating their continuing training needs.
Miguel also describes the four pillars of a successful digital transformation in higher education:
- deploy the right technologies, and in particular cloud-based platforms, the only way to benefit from the resilience, scalability and innovative services required by the other pillars,
- disseminate education offerings around a multi-service, multi-channel platform, integrating third-party partners, the only way to have the ubiquity needed to reach and capture all stakeholders,
- transform the organization and its culture, which means transforming working and teaching practices, to embrace the major changes and evolutions we are experiencing, be agile in their implementation, and effectively anchor knowledge,
- make evolve the business models, which remain very traditional to date, whereas education startups are demonstrating on a daily basis that there are many new ways to address this market, and thus increase revenues and ensure the investment capacity needed to transform and better serve learners.
